Six Sigma Green Belt Program Hard Times University is honored to welcome back again Daniel Stanley to teach the Six Sigma Green Belt program. Dan is a proven leader in the field of Six Sigma methodology. He is a certified 6-Sigma Black Belt, trained by the Six Sigma Academy and certified by the International Quality Federation. He has been employed for the past 25+ years at the Detrex Chemical Corporation, Visteon Corporation and Ford Motor Company in a variety of engineering, technical and research capacities. As a Black Belt, he has trained colleagues in the Six Sigma process, as well as delivering $10m + in his own cost savings projects. Dan has a BSc in Chemistry from Wayne State University , a MSc in International Administration from Central Michigan University and a MSc in Engineering Management from Wayne State University . Program Details; Six Sigma is an improvement strategy utilized by companies involving the hierarchy of Master Black Belts, Black Belts and Green Belts. · Master Black Belts are responsible for strategic implementation and integrity of Six Sigma. They oversee, train and mentor Black Belts. · Black Belts are Six Sigma team leaders responsible for implementing process improvement projects. They are trained and mentored by Master Black Belts, while training and mentoring Green Belts. · Green Belts are trained employees that lead process/quality improvement teams as part of their regular job. They assist Black Belts with data collection and analysis. Industry certification of the various Belts involves demonstrating a proficiency in and comprehension of Six Sigma principles and practices via a comprehensive exam. This occurs after gaining classroom and practical application of the Six Sigma Body of Knowledge, completion of one or more successful projects and having several years of experience with your company. To achieve the Status of an ASQ Certified Green Belt one must meet the following criteria: The goal of our program is to provide students with the same Body of Knowledge taught by the American Society of Quality (ASQ). The information contained in their two-week course is completed with us in just two full days. During the 2 day program proficiency exams are given for each module. These assess the student's comprehension of the course material. Upon completion of this course, they will have knowledge and skills required to function as a Six Sigma Green Belt. Students will receive a certificate of accomplishment as a "Certified Six Sigma Trained Green Belt", since they have not completed an active project. Once they complete a project and presented it to the instructor, they will gain the Certified Green Belt status. Along with this students will have their name listed on the HTU program graduate roster page on the Hard Times University website. While not necessary, should students want to get a further endorsement may certify as a certified Green Belt form an external agency can either contact ASQ (which charges up to $1000) or other certifying organizations (which charge up to $100 for their in house certifying test) for further details and requirements. Upon successful completion these sites will also list your name in their online registry. Students are asked to bring in their own laptop in order to run statistical packages (MiniTab etc.) Course Outline DMAIC: Define Phase · Developing problem statement · Identifying Y=f(x) · Determining Critical to Quality Characteristics · Process Mapping · Scoping projects · Documentation — Project Charter DMAIC: Measure Phase · Measurement — what is it, why measure · Variation — what is it, sources and types · Attribute/variable data · Data Collection Planning · Measurement Systems Analysis DMAIC: Analyze Phase · Capability Analysis · Graphical Analysis Tools · Sources of Variation DMAIC: Improve Phase · Generating Improvement Alternatives · Should Be Processes Map Creation · FMEA Updating · Pilot · Improvement Validation DMAIC: Control Phase · Error Proofing · Long-Term MSA · Control Chart Implementation · Reaction Plan Development · SOP and Training Plan Updating
One of the common approaches to Green Belt and Black Belt Six Sigma Certification is in-house training. Literally thousands of companies in the United States have Certified Black Belts and Master Black Belts that conduct training, mentoring, and consulting of employees. They follow the same stringent criteria of ASQ, IQF and other certifying organizations. These programs, which teach the same Body of Knowledge, operate like an apprenticeship, allowing the individual to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a real job situation. The benefit is on the job training. They are still required to pass the Certification Exam after completion of two successful projects. Typical costs for this ASQ 2 week training is anywhere form $2,000 – $4,000.
Each student will receive a licensed copy of the training materials.
